Editorial: Thunderstorms Leaving Their Mark on Summer
From the Imperial Valley Press:
“Monsoon-like rains pounded parts of the Valley last year, flooding roads, neighborhoods and cropland and bringing a federal disaster declaration for Imperial County’s alfalfa seed crop. This year thunderstorm-connected downpours and winds have ravaged crops and resulted in the closure of roads, along with assorted other damages, but the toll hasn’t nearly reached what it did last year.
“Much of the credit for things not being a general quagmire after our recent storms must go to public works employees around the Imperial Valley, including those employed by the Imperial Irrigation District, Imperial County and the various cities and utility districts.”
