Historic Flood Remembered, Heroes Honored

“Silverado Canyon’s volunteer firefighters have faced their share of battles with Mother Nature during Station 14’s seven decades on the edge of Cleveland National Forest. Some made the ultimate sacrifice.
“A crowd gathered at the station Saturday to honor those who’ve died and rededicate a memorial in their honor – plus add one more fallen hero to the record.
“The memorial was erected outside the station in 1970, one year after what canyon residents simply call “the flood.’”
