Lake Skinner: Trout Stocking Program Spiked by State

“The state’s Department of Fish and Wildlife has asked the county to postpone indefinitely the annual stocking of rainbow trout in Lake Skinner to protect endangered steelhead trout in the Santa Margarita River.
“‘If the county stocks the lake with hatchery trout there is a possibility, however remote, that if Skinner floods, non-native trout could wash over the spillway and be carried downstream,’ said Andrew Hughan, the Department of Fish and Wildlife’s spokesman for Southern California.”
