Mesa Water Votes to Raise Rates for Five Years

“The Mesa Water District board voted last week to move forward with a rate hike that will start in 2014 and be phased in over five years. …
“Board members spent much of the meeting building their case for the increase. They said the increases are needed mainly for infrastructure improvements and higher anticipated operating costs. Some of the additional revenue also would go toward building the district’s reserves, with the goal of having 600 days of cash on hand, and for debt service on its Mesa Water Reliability Facility, a water filtration facility.”
