News Release: SFPUC Rim Fire Water and Power Update
From the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), dated August 28:
“Water — There is no change or impact to the delivery of high quality water from Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. As a precautionary measure, and consistent with normal system operations, we have increased the amount of water delivery from Hetch Hetchy to our local reservoirs in the Alameda and Peninsula areas. We continue to meet all our customer needs for water. Turbidity levels remain at 0.2 NTU, unchanged since before the fire began.
“Power — All of San Francisco’s municipal electric customers continue to be fully supplied with no service interruption. Repairs are being made to the Kirkwood Hydroelectric Powerhouse. Work has been completed on turbine #1. Work will continue on turbine #2 today. Crews will be inspecting transmission lines, clearing hazard trees, and restoring access to service roads. Power transmission lines still need to be hotwashed to rid the insulators of dirt and other debris prior to energizing. More information about transmission line activities will be released at a later time.”
