Streamgage: Aquafornia Water Word of the Week
Aquafornia’s Water Word of the Week is streamgage, a newly added water term on sister site Aquapedia, the Water Education Foundation’s vetted, online water encyclopedia.
An excerpt from the Aquapedia entry: “Generally, a streamgage is a device used to estimate the flow in streams in rivers. According to the USGS, a streamgage is an active, continuously, functioning measurement of mean daily streamflow.”
Developed and managed by the Foundation, Aquapedia aims to provide teachers, students, journalists, water professionals, policymakers and the general public with balanced information. In addition to water terms, Aquapedia also includes timelines, videos, photos, bios about historical water people, a directory of water interests, and a Useful Acronyms section.
