SWP: Aquafornia Water Word of the Week
Aquafornia’s Water Word of the Week from sister site Aquapedia is SWP, a frequent acronym in headlines recently.
The Water Education Foundation’s online water encyclopedia includes SWP in both the Useful Acronyms section and under the more than 200 definitions of water topics.
Spelled out, the SWP abbreviation is State Water Project. Aquapedia entries are cross-referenced, so it’s easy to click on the link to the Water Terms section for a comprehensive definition.
An excerpt from Aquapedia’s in-depth entry includes the following: “The State Water Project diverts water from the Feather River to the Central Valley, South Bay Area and Southern California. Its key feature is the 44-mile long California Aqueduct that can be viewed from Interstate 5.” The contents also include overview, background and future sections, along with “facts and figures.”
The SWP entry also offers Foundation resources, including the “Layperson’s Guide to the State Water Project,” a slideshow, and many more.
