Water Conservation: Aquafornia Water Word of the Week
Aquafornia’s Water Word of the Week from sister site Aquapedia, the Water Education Foundation’s free interactive online water encyclopedia, is Water Conservation.
Water conservation is one of more than 200 definitions of water terms from A to Z on Aquapedia and quite possibly the most comprehensive entry.
According to an excerpt from the Aquapedia definition, “Water conservation has become a way of life throughout the West, with water demand commonly outpacing supply. The primary reason for conservation has been drought but now there is increasing awareness of the limited availability of freshwater for drinking, irrigation, industry and other uses.” The contents also include sections on Water Conservation Initiatives and Water Conservation and the Future, along with multimedia.
Above and beyond the definition, Aquapedia offers references for further studying. Among the many Foundation resources available on Water Conservation are the following: “Layperson’s Guide to Water Conservation,” “Are We Keeping Up With Water Infrastructure Needs, Western Water, Jan./Feb. 2012,” “Changing the Status Quo: The 2009 Water Package, Western Water, Jan./Feb. 2010” and “Dollars and Sense: How We Pay For Water, Western Water, Sept./Oct. 2009.”
