Forty Years Strong: Water Education Foundation Marks Anniversary Monday
Save the Date - Oct. 26 - for Our Anniversary Dinner & Water Leaders Reunion Reception
The Water Education Foundation is marking its 40th anniversary this year with a special celebration dinner Oct. 26 in Sacramento at the Sterling Hotel.
But this Monday (February 27th) is the actual anniversary of the Foundation’s articles of incorporation being filed in 1977, creating a nonprofit, nonpolitical, tax-exempt educational organization.
Today, the Sacramento-based Foundation remains a vital source of nonpartisan, in-depth information about water resource issues in California and the West.
Taking a steady pulse of the water world, the Foundation provides a vast repertoire of educational materials, products and services such as our water tours, lectures, our flagship quarterly magazine, Western Water, and our Layperson’s Guides, and Project WET (Water Education for Teachers).
We began in 1977 in the second year of a drought. Jimmy Carter was in the White House and Jerry Brown was governor of California. Some things never change!
At our fall anniversary dinner, we also will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of our popular Water Leaders program with a reunion for all classes dating back to 1997.
For now, mark your calendars for Oct. 26 and stay tuned for more details!
