Giving Tuesday is Your Chance to Support Water Education in California and the West
Our programs help empower teachers and the next generation of leaders in water
Today on Giving Tuesday, a global day of philanthropy, you can support impartial education and informed decision-making on water resources in California and the West by making a tax-deductible donation to the Water Education Foundation.
Your support ensures that our legacy of producing in-depth news, educational workshops and accessible and reliable information on water reaches new heights in 2025.
What Your Gifts Made Possible in 2024
Teaching the next generation . . .
- Project WET (Water Education Today) – This year, more than 650 educators across California attended our workshops to learn how to bring lessons on water, climate change, flood, drought and conservation into their classrooms. More than 100,000 students are expected to be reached by those educators trained in our Project WET workshops! For 29 years we have been the only sanctioned nonprofit to deliver Project WET in California.
- Water Leaders – The California program boasts more than 500 graduates since its inception in 1997, helping the next generation of leaders deepen their water knowledge and develop collaborative leadership skills. In 2022, we started a biennial Colorado River Water Leaders program. In 2024, both water leadership programs included lawyers, engineers, scientists, farmers and environmentalists in their cohorts, and gave them the tools to tackle water problems in a collaborative fashion.
Keeping everyone current on the issues . . .
- Aquafornia, our roundup of water news delivered each weekday, keeps you up to date nearly 250 days a year with what’s happening in the water world, and Western Water, our online magazine, provides in-depth coverage of important water issues. Both resources are free to the public.
- Our 18 Layperson’s Guides offer easy-to-understand overviews on the most important water topics in California and the West. Our guides cover groundwater, water rights and watersheds such as the Klamath River, and more! In the coming weeks, we will debut an updated guide to Water Recycling.
These are just a few examples of the impact our supporters made in 2024. Please donate today to help us make an even greater impact in 2025.
Thank you for any level of support!
