Happy 2017 From the Water Education Foundation – A Letter from the Executive Director
Water 101, Headwater Tours, our 40th Anniversary and more!
Happy New Year to the supporters and followers of the Water Education Foundation!
This will be a big year for the Foundation as we celebrate our 40th anniversary! We began in 1977 in the second year of a drought. Jimmy Carter was in the White House and Jerry Brown was governor of California. Some things never change!
We are planning a few events to mark the milestone – a picnic in the summer for attendees of our tours no matter how long ago you joined us for an outing, and a special dinner in the fall.
At our fall anniversary dinner, we also will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of our popular Water Leaders program with a reunion for all classes dating back to 1997. Stay tuned for more details!
We are gearing up for a busy but fun 2017 with events and tours. First up this month we will launch this year’s Water Leaders class, followed by our popular Water 101 Workshop in West Sacramento in early February.
Our premiere conference, the Executive Briefing, will be held March 23 in Sacramento. Join Sue, me and the rest of the Foundation team for a day filled with updates on the hottest topics in California water, a silent auction benefiting our Water Leaders program, a raffle of one of our tours and a networking reception.
Also, in March, we begin our 2017 tour line-up with the Central Valley Tour followed by the Lower Colorado River Tour in April. Please consider joining Dan and me on our new Headwaters Tour at the end of April. We are very excited about that one!
The staff and the Board of Directors at the Foundation hope that everyone has a safe and happy new year! Please consider adopting a resolution to learn more about water in 2017 and join us for a tour or event!
Cheers,
