Hot off the Press: A New Look for Our California Groundwater Map
Re-designed map helps you see below the ground and understand what groundwater looks like
The Water Education Foundation has just released a new version of its California Groundwater Map. Accompanying the updated look is new information that emphasizes the value of groundwater in California.
The map displays where groundwater is located in the state using the 2016 groundwater basin map published by the California Department of Water Resources (DWR). Colorful graphics provide you with the chance to “see” the layers that comprise an aquifer.
The map also includes diagrams of a production well and a monitoring well cluster and cross sections representing aquifers in the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys, along the California coast, and in the foothill and mountain areas.
Funding for the updated map was provided by a grant from DWR. Suitable for framing, copies of the map are available for $15 each, plus applicable tax and shipping charges. Order your map here
And remember that a great compliment to the map is our recently updated Layperson’s Guide to Groundwater!
