Learn about California Along our Greatest Waterways During Fall Tours
Early bird discounts available for all three tours
Our 2016 tour season has three chances left for you to experience the best educational tours on California water. During these fast-paced tours, we provide historical, scientific legal and diverse views on often controversial topics to give you the whole picture of this precious natural resource.
So join us this fall as we traverse major rivers and visit groundwater sites:
– Our next tour is a two-day exploration of groundwater Oct. 5-6. As we will travel through Northern California, we will meet with water managers who will explain different challenges and strategies to implement SGMA; learn from area farmers and ranchers about pumping, overdraft, drought management and water efficiency; and pick the brains of scientists and researchers on the latest techniques in monitoring as well as the basics of groundwater science.
– Our annual Northern California Tour Oct. 19-21 will take you through both of California’s major water delivery systems, the Central Valley Project and the State Water Project. In addition to tours of both Oroville and Shasta dams, you’ll be treated to a houseboat cruise of Lake Shasta, a private tour of one the nation’s largest organic rice farms and manufacturing plants, and a look at the fall migration along the Pacific Flyway.
– Our final tour of the year is the San Joaquin River Restoration Tour Nov. 2-3. We provide the most thorough tour of the nation’s largest and most expensive river restoration program available to the public. Travel more than 100 miles from Friant Dam to Hills Ferry, meeting with restoration specialists along the way as you’re guided by representatives of the history making legal settlement.
For more than two decades, we have introduced guests to leading water experts from throughout the West. Join us for any of these tours to deepen your understanding of California water. Click here for complete tour information and ticket sales.
