Event to be held Feb. 2-3 in West Sacramento
As drought, groundwater and Delta issues continue to dominate headlines, attend our popular Water 101 workshop to learn from leading policymakers and experts about key issues associated with the life-sustaining resource.
Among the speakers on the first day of the 1-1/2 day workshop on February 2-3 at the West Sacramento City Hall are:
Lester Snow, former California Natural Resources Secretary and Director of the state Department of Water Resources, discussing the crisis of groundwater management and other hot topics
Alf Brandt, Senior Counsel for Assembly Water, Parks & Wildlife Committee, Office of Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, discussing working with and understanding the state Legislature and current water-related legislative proposals.
Jennifer Harder, Assistant Professor, Pacific McGeorge School of Law, providing an overview of the California water rights system.
Day two is optional and geared toward new water board directors although anyone can attend. Those sessions offer a governance primer for water district directors, including legal requirements, roles and responsibilities, as well as tips on understanding the news media.
