New Western Water Magazine Available
The Next Steps of the Colorado River Basin Study
The 2012 landmark Colorado River Basin Study identified a major disparity between future water supply and demand, and established three workgroups to figure out how to close the gap. The newest issue of Western Water magazine takes a look at the process and progress in the last two years.
Written by the Foundation’s Gary Pitzer, the November/December issue features interviews with members of those workgroups and the challenges of completing Phase 1 of the follow-up process. As the magazine went to press, federal officials announced that the reports from these stakeholder groups would not be released until early 2015; release had been set for December.
Workgroups are looking at municipal and industrial conservation and water reuse, agricultural conservation, productivity and water transfers, and environmental and recreational flows.
