Nitrate Policy and Sustainable Groundwater Management on Tap for International Gathering

Emerging contaminants, sustainable groundwater management and nitrate and salinity policies are among the topics on tap for the three-day Toward Sustainable Groundwater in Agriculture: 2nd International Conference Linking Science and Policy.
Attendees will also get the opportunity to learn about research on a host of international groundwater topics during two poster sessions. More than 150 speakers from around the world are on the agenda.
The conference will run from June 28-30 at the Hyatt Regency at the San Francisco Airport in Burlingame and is organized by the Water Education Foundation and the UC Davis Robert M. Hagan Endowed Chair
Each day a morning plenary session will be followed by four concurrent tracks offering a wide range of policy and technical presentations throughout the day.
Top scientists and policy leaders will address the conference, including Karen Ross, Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture; Anne Mills, Deputy Under Secretary for National Resources and Environment at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Bill Alley, former Groundwater Chief of the U.S. Geological Survey, and Lester Snow, former California Natural Resources Secretary.
Session topics include environmental justice, Sustainable Groundwater Management Act, emerging contaminants, nitrate and salinity policies, and modeling and data.
