Roster of Speakers, Topics Unveiled for Feb. 22 Water 101 Workshop
Learn about California water basics and go beyond the headlines; jump on the bus for the optional Delta tour the next day
Learn from top experts at our annual Water 101 Workshop about the history, hydrology and law behind California water as well as hot topics such as groundwater, climate change and the Delta. For the first time, the workshop offers an optional tour of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta the next day.
The Feb. 22 workshop comes as Gov. Brown’s administration downsized the proposed project to carry water beneath the Delta to one tunnel from two. Learn more about this controversial project, the varying views on the proposal and where it would be built during the workshop and tour.
Among the topics at the workshop are:
- Water geography, history and hydrology
- California’s water rights system and governing laws
- An overview of the Delta, its importance to California’s water supply and the latest on the tunnel proposal
- Climate change impacts to water resources
- Understanding and working with the state Legislature

On Day 2, we hop on the bus and travel along the Sacramento River into the heart of the Delta as expert water managers and engineers guide us through this unique ecosystem.
The tour will make several stops to view water intake facilities, levees, restoration projects, a farm and more! We also will visit the state pumps at Clifton Court Forebay, a key component of the State Water Project and the Central Valley Project.
Join us for this once-a-year event!
