As 2022 unfolds at the Water Education Foundation, we are planning for a cautious return to in-person events starting in March with our Lower Colorado River Tour. Save the dates for our other spring tours that are noted below. We’ve also got some new publications to beef up your water knowledge and a job opening for a writer.
Apply for Colorado River Water Leaders by 5 p.m. this Friday
Become a member of our inaugural 2022 Colorado River Water Leaders cohort. Applications are due this Friday (Jan. 28) at 5 p.m. PT.
The seven-month class is designed for working professionals in their early to mid-career at state and federal agencies, water and irrigation districts, tribal nations, environmental groups, agricultural interests, private companies and nongovernmental organizations. Class members will explore issues surrounding the iconic Southwest river, deepen their water knowledge and build leadership skills. Get more information and application materials here.
Save the Dates for Central Valley and Bay-Delta Tours; Sign up for Lower Colorado River Tour in March
The Foundation returns to the road this year to give you a firsthand look at the water facilities, rivers and regions critical in the debate about the future of water resources. Mark your calendars now for our in-person Central Valley Tour April 20-22 and our Bay-Delta Tour May 18-20. Registration opens soon!
You can grab your ticket now for our in-person Lower Colorado River Tour March 16-18! In the centennial year of the 1922 Colorado River Compact, the tour will take participants from Hoover Dam downstream to the Mexican border and through the Imperial and Coachella valleys to learn firsthand about the challenges and opportunities now facing the “Lifeline of the Southwest” a hundred years on. Issues discussed include water needs in the Lower Basin, drought management, endangered species, Salton Sea restoration and more. Register here!

Improve Your Water Knowledge with New Guides/Maps
We have recently updated several of our popular Layperson’s Guides on water issues, including our newly redesigned Layperson’s Guide to California Water.
We have also recently updated our Layperson’s Guides to Water Rights Law, the Delta and the Central Valley Project.
In addition, our new poster-size map to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, highlighting the Delta’s place as a center of farming, its importance as an ecological resource and its vital role in California’s water supply system, was published last year.
