Water 101 Workshop Offers Rookies & Veterans a Chance to Deepen Their Understanding of California Water
April 5 Workshop in Sacramento includes optional Groundwater Tour on April 4
One of the Foundation’s most popular events, our daylong Water 101 Workshop on April 5 offers a once-a-year opportunity to gain a solid statewide grounding of California’s most precious natural resource - whether you are new to California water issues or just want a refresher.
Hosted at McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, Water 101 covers the history, hydrology and law behind water management in California and is taught by some of the state’s leading policy and legal experts.
The workshop will benefit directors and staff of water and irrigation districts, other water resource industry staff, engineers and lawyers, city council members, county supervisors, legislative staff, reporters, environmentalists, farmers, public interest organizations and others.
Optional Groundwater Tour
Workshop participants are invited to join a daylong tour examining one of the state’s most critical water resources, groundwater.
Led by Foundation staff and Thomas Harter, Chair for Water Resources Management and Policy at UC Davis, the tour is an opportunity to learn firsthand about how groundwater is used by cities and farms in the Sacramento region. You’ll also get to examine a subsidence-measuring station and hear the latest updates on efforts to meet requirements of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act and more.
