CVP: Aquafornia Water Word of the Week
Aquafornia’s Water Word of the Week from sister site Aquapedia is CVP, an acronym that has been in the news lately.
The Water Education Foundation’s online water encyclopedia includes CVP in both the Useful Acronyms section and under the more than 200 definitions of water topics.
Spelled out, the CVP abbreviation is Central Valley Project. Aquapedia entries are cross-referenced, so it’s an easy click on the link to the Water Topics section for a comprehensive definition.
An excerpt from Aquapedia’s in-depth entry includes the following: “Birthed in part by a long-ago federal effort to create farmland, today the Central Valley Project is one of the largest water and transport systems in the world.” The contents also include sections on background, controversies and challenges, fish and the CVP, and facts and figures.
The CVP entry also offers Foundation resources, including the “Layperson’s Guide to the Central Valley Project,” “Keeping It Down on the Farm: Agricultural Water Use Efficiency. Western Water, March/April 2012,” and many more.
