Dramatic photos show home that slid into Russian River as storms raged
A torrent of rain in Sonoma County on Tuesday afternoon triggered a mudslide that swept an unoccupied house used as an Airbnb rental into the Russian River. Aerial images of the mudslide showed downed trees, cracked pavement and a tangle of debris on the muddy hillside where Sonoma County officials said the home fell into the river around 12:30 p.m. The home was unoccupied at the time of the slide, officials said, and was located in the Hacienda neighborhood of Forestville, about 10 miles northwest of Santa Rosa, at the intersection of Westside and Rio Vista roads.
