DWR talks start of new water year, possible El Niño
California might very well be looking at yet another wet winter in the coming year. Bracing for what is expected to be an El Niño year, the California Department of Water Resources held a briefing last week to go over state operations and what is currently expected of the weather going forward. This included updates on reservoirs as well as individual department overviews. Ernest Conant with the United States Bureau of Reclamation noted that this year’s winter storms brought the state enough water to supply 100% of the requested water allocations. … Climatologist Michael Anderson said that there’s still room for variability even in the case of El Niño conditions.
