Will El Niño impact California’s snowfall this winter?
Last winter, a barrage of relentless storms blanketed California’s Sierra Nevada with quantities of snow the mountain range had never seen in some areas, resulting in one of the largest snowpacks in recorded history. With winter just around the corner, many are wondering: Could the Golden State see another epic snow season? Forecasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration hint at a slight possibility of above normal snowfall in the southern Sierra, stretching from about Mammoth Mountain southward.
