Gene Shawcroft
Central Utah Water Conservancy District
Gene Shawcroft is general manager/CEO of the Central Utah Water Conservancy District and Utah’s Colorado River Commissioner.
He became general manager in 2015 after serving in various leadership positions for the water supplier starting in 1991. Previously, he worked for Utah’s Division of Water Resources. In 2021, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox appointed Shawcroft as the state’s representative on the Upper Colorado River Commission.
In his current role, Shawcroft works with the governor, the Colorado River Authority of Utah, the other six basin states and the federal government to use the best available data and management practices to make sure Utah, along with the other six states and Mexico, can use their fair share of the Colorado River.
He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering from Brigham Young University.
Shawcroft joined the Foundation’s Board of Directors in 2025.
