Participants at the daylong conference on March 29, 2019 at Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Student Union heard about the importance of the Santa Ana River Watershed and how, through powerful partnerships and integrated planning, the region is finding resilient solutions to improve the quality and reliability of the local water supply for all in the watershed.
Topics included:

- The California Water Plan Update 2018
- Highlights of the region’s ambitious integrated projects, habitat plans, conservation and conjunctive use programs
- Efforts to engage disadvantaged communities in water decisions
- Federal agency involvement in the watershed
Ellen Hanak of the Public Policy Institute of California moderated a panel featuring the top water managers from SAWPA’s member agencies who discussed the region’s latest innovations and what the next generation of integrated water management planning looks like.
Keynote speaker Tim Moore discussed “Choosing Statesmanship over Brinkmanship” during lunch.
The conference was convened by the Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority (SAWPA), and supported in part by SAWPA’s member agencies and coordinated by the Water Education Foundation.
SAWPA was an early champion of the One Water One Watershed – OWOW – concept and built it into an innovative and integrated planning process being implemented in the watershed. Click here to see the latest plan.
