Description: The 2023 online CEEF Teacher Institute provides cutting edge resources from local utility companies for real-world concepts in water and energy conservation, while promoting participant skills in the use of best practices of environmental education and stewardship.
Information will be presented remotely in both synchronous and asynchronous formats, allowing teachers the flexibility to complete the program at their own pace.
Live virtual meeting dates for the institute will be:
- Saturday February 25 | 9 AM – 12 PM
- Saturday March 25 | 9 AM – 12 PM
- Saturday March 11 | 9 AM – 12 PM
- Saturday April 29 | 9 AM – 3 PM
The Institute offers teachers the opportunity to learn about how best to introduce environmental stewardship to their classes and identifies best practices in distance learning instruction including the following features:
- Experience best practices in learner-centered pedagogy and NGSS science practices taught by a university pedagogy expert.
- Learn about home-grown environmental stewardship practices from experts at Metropolitan Water District, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and the Southern CA Gas Company.
- Receive up-to-date information from scientists and engineering managers on environmental hot topics such as water quality and conservation; water recycling and local supply sources; energy efficiency; renewable energy; electric vehicles; and ecological relationships between water and energy. Each topic area will include discussions about climate change connections.
- Receive professional follow-up help throughout the Institute to identify high quality EE resources and to provide coaching on your students’ environmental stewardship projects.
- Project WET Certification.
- Eligibility to purchase three (3) Continuing Education Units available through UC Davis.
- Collect a $575 stipend mailed to you after completing five requirements of the Institute
- Participate in all on-line group and individual modules; write and implement one EE lesson; conduct a faculty presentation; complete Project WET certification; and present your students’ stewardship project.
- Learn about funding sources for EE and where to apply for a $200 mini grant to implement your students’ stewardship projects.
