Description: The Floodplain and Delta Ecology Institute integrates the curricula of Education & the Environment Initiative (EEI), Project WET and Delta Studies to demonstrate the use of floodplain and Delta ecology issues as integrating contexts to develop conceptual understanding and skills at the core of California education standards.
Highlights of the institute will include:
Full day bus tour of the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta will visit the Skinner Fish Screens, the Tracy Pumping Plant, the Delta Cross Channel, Big Break Regional Park and areas of floodplain, subsidence and levee restoration.
Your own copy of Project WET Guide 2.0 and a classroom set of materials to teach a full Education and the Environment (EEI) unit appropriate for your grade level.
Hands-on activities and integrated lessons with literary links.
Two units of credit available through Teachers College of San Joaquin (additional cost).
A $200 Stipend upon completion of a classroom integration project.
