Description: The Kern County Superintendent of Schools and California Project WET program invite educators who work with students in 3rd through 12th grades for a workshop learning about the science of climate change and the connection to California’s water resources.
Understanding climate change and its link to floods, drought, groundwater, and more is crucial for all Californians. In this special workshop, you will learn activities to use with your students to help them understand the impacts of climate change on water and steps they can take to adapt to our changing environment.
This workshop will be an interdisciplinary exploration of climate science, how water managers are applying the science to conserve California’s water resources and develop climate resilient communities – and how the interdisciplinary activities of Project WET can help you engage your students in the study of climate science in your class or education program.
Project WET activities are designed to engage students in the study of water using models, interactive simulations, and reality-based scenarios. Interdisciplinary Project WET activities supplement existing curriculum, are correlated to Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards, and provide strong foundations for STEAM, Project-Based, and Service- Learning programs.
Registration is free and each participant will receive a copy of the new Project WET Water & Earth Systems guide and coffee and breakfast snacks will be provided. Lunch will be on your own.
