Description:
The California Department of Water Resources, Effie Yeaw Nature Center and California Project WET invite K-12 educators to a Project WET workshop focused on exploring flood risk, flood preparedness and the benefits of floodplain restoration in the Sacramento region.
For a $20 registration fee, participants in this workshop will:
- Receive an overview of the Central Valley Flood Protection system from DWR flood science experts;
- Visit the Ancil Hoffman Habitat Restoration Project for salmon;
- Learn about California’s annual Flood Awareness Week;
- Experience Project WET activities to engage your students in flood preparedness and flood science concepts and skills tied to Common Core and Next Generation Science standards.
Participants will also receive a copy of Project WET Guide 2.0, a light breakfast and lunch, an introduction to Effie Yeaw Nature Center education programs for K-12 students, an opportunity to receive CEU credit – and a $100 stipend provided following completion of the training!
