Description: The California Department of Water Resources (DWR), San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE), California Regional Environmental Education Community (CREEC), and the California Project WET invite educators who work with students in 3rd through 12th grades for a workshop learning about the science of climate change and the connection to California’s water resources.
Understanding climate change and its link to flood, drought, water quality, and more is crucial to all Californians. In this workshop, you will interact with DWR climate experts and engage in activities that will help your students understand the impacts of climate change on water and how to adapt to our changing environment.
Project WET activities are designed to engage students in the study of water through the use of models, interactive simulations, and reality-based scenarios. Interdisciplinary Project WET activities supplement existing curriculum, are correlated to Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards, and provide strong foundations for STEAM, Project-Based, and Service- Learning programs.
For the $25 registration fee, participants will receive:
- A wealth of current information on climate science and its application.
- An opportunity to interact with experts from DWR’s Climate Research staff.
- A copy of the new Project WET ‘Foundations of Water Education’ guide.
- Continental breakfast and lunch.
- An opportunity to receive 0.8 CEU credit.
- A $100 stipend following completion of the workshop!
