Description: Climate change is having a profound impact on California water resources, as evidenced by changes in snowpack, sea level and river flows. These changes are expected to continue in the future and more of our precipitation will likely fall as rain instead of snow.

Join the Department of Water Resources (DWR) Climate Change Team for a day learning about the basics of climate science, how DWR is addressing climate change impacts on California’s water supply and how the interdisciplinary activities of Project WET can help you integrate climate science knowledge and skill back in the classroom!

The interdisciplinary Project WET activities are correlated to Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards and are an effective tool for integrating student knowledge of water resources with activities that include real life-based scenarios that provide strong foundations for STEAM and Service-Learning programs. Project WET activities are designed to supplement existing curriculum in formal and non-formal education settings.

Each participant will receive: an introduction to current climate science and applications to California from the DWR Climate team; copy of the Project WET Guide 2.0 and first-hand experience engaged in Project WET activities, breakfast snacks and coffee and a $50 stipend following completion of the training. Please bring your lunch!
