Water and Growth: A Roundtable Discussion

How are water and growth connected? Should there be a stronger link? What is the role of the state? These questions and more were the topic of an March 2000 roundtable discussion between Foundation Chief Writer Sue McClurg and representatives of five organizations involved in the ongoing debate: Randele Kanouse, special assistant to the general manager of East Bay Municipal Utility District; Cliff Moriyama, legislative advocate for the California Building Industry Association; Mary Ann Warmerdam, legislative advocate for the California Farm Bureau Federation; Gerald Meral, executive director of the Planning and Conservation League; and Carol Whiteside, a former mayor of Modesto and president of the Great Valley Center.
