California Project WET Gazette: Exploring the H2Olympics!
With the summer Olympics in Paris fast approaching, the summer edition of the California Project WET Gazette explores the project WET activity “H2Olympics” and the amazing water properties of adhesion and cohesion.
This summer will likely be the last opportunity to receive the large Project WET Guide 2.0 before it goes out of publication. The Gazette also includes opportunities to attend workshops and acquire the new Foundations of Water Education guide! Please pass the word to your colleagues about the who might be interested in getting copies of either version.
Upcoming Project WET workshops and institutes:
- Coachella Valley, Jun. 27, at the Coachella Valley Water District in Palm Desert: Educators will experience great activities, learn about local water district resources for schools and receive the Project WET Foundations of Water Education guide. Learn more.
- Cosumnes Water Institute, July 17 – 19, at the Cosumnes River Preserve near Galt: A multi-day exploration of the connections between local water infrastructure, ecosystems of the Cosumnes watershed and eastern Delta region and our statewide water systems. Learn more.
- Solano Water Institute, July 31 – Aug. 2, at various locations in Solano County: A field-based professional development highlighting the region’s complex water resources, while providing will provide teachers with the tools to support students learning about the local watersheds in which they live. - Climate Change & California Water, Oct. 5, at the Alameda County Water District in Fremont: In this special workshop, you will learn activities to use with your students to help them understand the impacts of climate change on water and steps they can take to adapt to our changing environment.
