San Diego Tour 2016
Field Trip (past)
This 2-day, 1-night tour in the San Diego County included a private tour of the new Carlsbad ocean desalination plant, the largest such facility in the Western hemisphere and designed to increase the San Diego area’s water supply reliability.
Other stops on the tour included San Vicente Dam, Drought-tolerant gardens, Stone Brewery, Olivenhain Dam, Agua Hedionda Lagoon, Encina Water Pollution Control Facility, Mission Trails Regional Park, and the Pure Water San Diego Program facility. The tour began and ended at the Best Western Plus Island Palms Hotel & Marina in San Diego.
The Water Education Foundation’s tours are action-packed field trips that offer participants a firsthand look at the water facilities, rivers and regions critical in the debate about the future of water resources. Issues of water supply, water quality, environmental restoration, flood management, groundwater and water conservation are addressed by a wide-range of speakers representing different viewpoints.
